Behind the Scenes of Crafting Perfect Films: A Week of Editing Mastery
This past week has been a whirlwind of creativity and precision as I dedicated countless hours sometimes up to 16 hours a day editing two unique projects for two prestigious institutions. Balancing client preferences and my own expertise, I worked with Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, two of the most powerful video editing software in the industry. Each project presented its own challenges and highlights, making this week a perfect showcase of how adaptability and skill come together to produce cinematic excellence.
One project, shot and directed by me, is for the NYU Prison Education Program, an initiative I feel deeply passionate about. For this film, I leaned on DaVinci Resolve, my preferred tool for its unmatched color grading capabilities and streamlined workflow for post-production. The other project, a film for Columbia Law School, was specifically edited in Adobe Premiere Pro to meet the client's requirements. The differences between the two platforms DaVinci's robust color correction and node based workflow versus Premiere's integration with Adobe's ecosystem highlight the importance of tailoring your approach to meet project-specific needs.
Working late into the night, surrounded by the glow of my monitor and stacks of notes, I strived to ensure every detail was perfect from syncing audio to fine-tuning transitions. The process of crafting these films was not just about meeting deadlines but also about pushing the boundaries of visual storytelling.
